MEMORY VITAMIN
Making Mental Muscle
Your memory needs your brain! Your whole brain – and nothing but the whole brain. Memory is a small part of a very clever and complex organ. This is the part of us that is processing EVERYTHING we come into contact with. The brain uses tremendous amounts of energy and is the most metabolically active organ in the body; it never completely rests. As a result, it has one of the highest rates of free radical production. These free radicals begin to destroy the structure of the brain, its connections and the cells. You have to support the brain to keep itself in good shape by eating or taking as supplements the best nutrients to combat these free radicals.
Omega 3 fatty acids are really necessary and your brain begins to change and weaken if you don’t have enough of these in your system. Even just a 2 week period of low Omega 3 intake will lower your brain capacity
.
Think how much sugar you take in a day. A lot of sugar is ‘hidden’ in canned foods and processed items. Sugar consumption dramatically increases free radical generation in the brain making every cell in your body age much, much faster, particularly brain cells.
Lack of Vitamin B-1 in the diet causes memory failure and depression. Sadly if we eat a lot of carbs we will be depleting our levels of Vitamin B-1 too.
We also need good doses of Vitamins C, D, E, K, A, and B12 as these are all associated with brain function.
For those of you who love your red meat studies found that animal fat impairs ability to learn and remember, but healthy fats, such as Omega-3, improve depression, memory retention and thinking. This means thinking about liking salmon and other oily fish as much as you do meat! (Or at least eating them a few times a week).
MSG which is shaken into food as its cooked; pesticides we absorb as we eat foods covered in them; aluminum in deodorants; fluoride in the water all play a major role in brain toxicity which makes brain functioning slower and lower.
What I am trying to show you is that it is almost impossible to get any significant and serious memory improvement when you don’t know what fundamental nutrients your memory and brain need and how these nutrients are related to overall health and foods. After you understand what and why you will be much more motivated to help your body and your brain by making the changes you need.
