LONG TERM MEMORY ENHANCE

Speed reading saves time and boosts Mental Muscle One of the easiest ways to enhance your long term memory capacity is to learn how to speed read.  The focus you give to the text you are speed reading helps you go straight to the long term storage areas in the brain and implant the information you are absorbing right into the right place.

Another factor to improving your long term memory is in getting smarter at using your brain’s own natural tendencies.  In fact your brain works like a camera, an audio recording device, and a computer, storing all memories even if you are not focusing on things.   If you repeatedly scan over the same material each ‘flash’ of the camera will increase the strength of the picture it takes as the brain lays it down in the store.

So with a little practice you can learn how to speed read and review material in a very short time and this will make you a better student, employee, communicator, and a much better decision maker in your life. It will also cut down reading time on reports, memos, correspondence, newspapers, novels, non-fiction, magazine, etc. in half, or do even better. .

How does this work
Writers get paid by the word in articles and by % of gross sales (royalties) in book publishing; usually the thicker the book the higher the price and the higher the royalty. Writers are unnecessarily verbose. What this means is there are many words within sentences that are just there as fillers. What you have to learn to do is to only read the words that are essential.

Most likely, you are a slow reader because you read word-by-word and you say every word to yourself. Instead you should use your hand as a pacer. OK, now search for the important words … like those in capital letters:

Most likely, YOU are a SLOW READER BECAUSE YOU READ word-BY-WORD and you SAY EVERY WORD TO yourSELF. Instead you should USE YOUR HAND AS a PACER.

When you look at those words,, you’ll notice the words in ALL CAPS; these are the ONLY WORDS YOU MUST READ to get the meaning of the paragraph. The ones I typed in regular type are just fillers. What you need to be reading is this:
“YOU SLOW READER BECAUSE YOU READ BY WORD SAY EVERY WORD TO SELF. USE YOUR HAND AS PACER”

You may think it sounds weird but, you can understand what that means and you can easily do without all those filler words.

People, especially those with cognitive disabilities, have limited space in their working memory. As they learn anything they find that they can learn only so much so fast. It is much more helpful for them to learn how to speed read where they repeat the same information several times, write those important keywords down and review the material regularly so that the information gets lodged firmly in long term memory.  This kind of process can help student considerably.
